Publisher and single purpose
The BUGHOUSE.GG Companion is published by BUGHOUSE.GG. Its single purpose is to improve the Bughouse playing experience through user-controlled partner messages, private player notes, time alerts, keyboard shortcuts, display preferences and optional connection to a BUGHOUSE.GG member account.
Data processed on supported Chess.com pages
To provide these features, the extension reads only the visible Bughouse interface on its declared Chess.com play and game pages. This can include usernames, clocks, board state, partner requests, game identifiers, game status, move-list snapshots and chat controls. The extension does not read Chess.com passwords, cookies or private account credentials, and it does not evaluate positions or recommend moves.
Data stored in Chrome
Private player notes, “avoid as partner” choices, alert settings, shortcuts, display preferences, window position and pending finished-game facts are stored with Chrome storage. Shortcuts and compatible preferences may use Chrome Sync when that service is enabled. When a member connects the extension to BUGHOUSE.GG, a revocable device credential and synchronized communication settings are also stored locally.
Partner messages
A partner message is entered into the visible Chess.com chat control only after the user deliberately chooses the corresponding command. The extension does not send autonomous chat messages.
Optional BUGHOUSE.GG synchronization
Account linking, settings synchronization, device status and finished-game uploads use encrypted HTTPS requests only to https://bughouse.gg. While a supported Bughouse game is open, the extension can temporarily buffer visible lifecycle events, clock facts, move-list snapshots and selected partner-message commands. A finished-game buffer is uploaded only after the Chess.com interface reports that the game has ended, and server-side processing separately requires a completed Chess.com game.
Consent
Completed-game activity collection is disabled until the user reviews the prominent in-product disclosure, checks the consent box and deliberately selects “Connect & Allow.” Without that consent, the connected companion does not read, buffer or upload game activity. Selecting “Disconnect & stop sharing” withdraws consent and clears the pending finished-game buffer. Active games are never sent for analysis.
Permissions
The extension requests Chrome storage, precise access to the declared Chess.com play and game paths, and host access only to https://bughouse.gg/* for optional member synchronization. It does not request broad browsing-history, cookies or credential access.
Use and disclosure
Information handled by the extension is used only to provide, secure or improve the features described above. It is not sold, used for advertising, used for credit decisions or provided to data brokers. Information is not made available for humans to read unless a user deliberately includes specific information in a support request.
Limited Use
The use of information received through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide or improve the extension’s disclosed single purpose. It is transferred only when necessary for that purpose, for security, when required by law, or as otherwise allowed by the Limited Use requirements. It is never used for personalized advertising or sold to data brokers.
Retention and user control
Users can edit or delete local notes, change preferences, disable automatic finished-game uploads, disconnect the current device and revoke connected devices from BUGHOUSE.GG Settings. Pending upload buffers are limited locally. Removing the extension clears extension storage when Chrome removes its local data. Server-side records remain subject to the BUGHOUSE.GG account and data-deletion workflow.
